The average to issue an initial DOH license has dropped to 58.79 days from start to finish. Within 30 days 99.01% of initial license applications are deemed either complete or deficient. Also, within 90 days they have almost 100% of initial applications are approved or denied.

Last year over 25,000 complaints were made to Florida DOH for all health care boards. When a priory 1 complaint is made investigators are processing it in about 1/4 days. It takes an average of 7 days to complete the case on these priority complaints. Then it takes about 2 months to issue an emergency order. The target for these cases is 30 days. An example of this was the West Palm case against “Dr. Love” – An 18-year-old in West Palm Beach, Florida, who was arrested recently and charged with masquerading as a physician without a license. Last year 2000 bills were introduced into legislation session with 279 bills passing. 16 bills impacted Health Care Professions. A copy of the MQA summary is attached.Â Please note that we learned 2 weeks ago that AAMFT has a Task Force that will produce guidelines for Technology in January 2017. Since all health care is introducing telehealth possibilities next year,Â this will be important to help train our members.

Because the legislature did not “sweep” the trust funds (these are the accounts which manage our licensing fees to pay for our regulatory 491 board) for the past two years, it is possible we may have a fee reduction approved for our March 31, 2017 license renewal fee. For example our estimated expenses for 2016-2018 is about 4.7 million dollars, but we are estimated to pay 5.5 million dollars. So there could be an overage.
